In short
- An anniversary is a deadline and a story. Use the story for credibility, the deadline for urgency, and keep every number in it provable.
- Start with people who already know you: first customers, existing ambassadors and creators who buy the product. Add new voices after that.
- Every milestone claim, from 'since 2021' to 'launch price', needs proof on file, because ASCI makes the advertiser responsible for substantiation.
- Our example for a five-year-old kitchen brand, with one mid-tier lead, 12 micro creators and 20 customer nanos, costs about ₹7.7 to ₹8.4 lakh.
A brand anniversary influencer campaign uses a milestone, such as one, five or ten years, as the story for creator content: where the brand began, who bought first, what has changed and a thank-you that comes with a reason to buy. Done well, it turns a date on your calendar into trust and a sales week. Done badly, it is self-congratulation that creators are paid to read out. This post gives twelve ideas, each with creator type, platform, what it achieves and a budget. It goes deeper than our guide to influencer marketing in India and draws on creator ambassador programmes and creator events and meetups.
Budgets use asking prices from our influencer rates guide. For micro creators I quote the lower half of the Reel band, ₹8,000 to ₹40,000. GST at 18 percent, usage rights (about 35 percent in our planning) and management fees (published benchmarks suggest 15 to 25 percent of creator spend) are extra.
What an anniversary gives you
A milestone is a set of assets you do not have on an ordinary week. Plan the campaign around the ones you hold.
| Asset | How to use it |
|---|---|
| A date | A deadline for offers, and a reason for creators to post in the same week |
| A story | The origin, the first product, the first mistake, told in a creator's voice |
| A customer base | First buyers and loyal repeaters, who are the most believable voices you have |
| A reason to give | A thank-you offer or gift, without cheapening the product |
| A reason to gather | An event where creators, customers and your team meet |
Look back (ideas 1 to 4)
| # | Idea | Creator and platform | What it achieves | Rough budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Year-one in numbers. The founder and a creator go through real numbers: the first order, the first hire, the first mistake. | One mid-tier creator; Reel | Credibility from candour; every number must be true | Mid-tier Reel ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh |
| 2 | First-customer reunion. The creator meets customers who bought in year one and asks why they stayed. | Ten nano creators who are also early customers; Reels | Loyalty stories you could not write | 10 Reels at ₹2,000 to ₹5,000: ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 |
| 3 | Then and now. Each creator lines up your first product beside today's range in a Story set. | Five micro creators; Story sets | A visible sense of progress | 5 sets at ₹5,000 to ₹20,000: ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh |
| 4 | Founder's-desk film. A creator spends a day with the founder and cuts the story of the year. | One micro creator; Reel plus Story set | The human side; see behind-the-scenes ideas | ₹13,000 to ₹60,000 |
Celebrate with customers (ideas 5 to 8)
| # | Idea | Creator and platform | What it achieves | Rough budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Thank-you wall. Creators film real customers' messages, with consent. | Fifteen nano creators; Reels | Proof that people like the product, from the people who bought it | 15 Reels at ₹2,000 to ₹10,000: ₹30,000 to ₹1.5 lakh |
| 6 | Anniversary giveaway. A "year's supply" given away through creator posts. | Five micro creators; Reels | Entries and new followers; see Instagram giveaways | 5 Reels: ₹40,000 to ₹2 lakh, plus prizes |
| 7 | Creator birthday party. Creators, customers and your team in one room. | Ten micro creators; Reels and Stories | A day of content from one event; see event promotion | 10 Reels: ₹80,000 to ₹4 lakh, plus venue and catering |
| 8 | Anniversary edition. A creator helps pick a limited colour, flavour or bundle. | One mid-tier creator; Reel plus Story set | A reason to buy now; see co-created products | ₹70,000 to ₹2.3 lakh, plus any share agreed |
Sell the week (ideas 9 to 12)
| # | Idea | Creator and platform | What it achieves | Rough budget |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | Birthday-week codes. Each creator shares a unique code and a Story set. | Twelve micro creators; Story sets | Orders you can attribute to a creator | 12 sets at ₹5,000 to ₹20,000: ₹60,000 to ₹2.4 lakh |
| 10 | Launch-price day. One day at the price you charged at launch, announced the day before. | Eight micro creators; Story sets | A cap on the discount and a reason to act today | 8 sets: ₹40,000 to ₹1.6 lakh |
| 11 | Thirty days, thirty creators. One nano creator a day gives a different reason they like the product. | Thirty nano creators; Stories | A month-long countdown with fresh faces | 30 sets at ₹1,000 to ₹5,000: ₹30,000 to ₹1.5 lakh |
| 12 | Next-year ambassadors. Sign three micro creators for six months, each posting a Reel a month. | Three micro creators; Reels | A year-two programme; 72 percent of surveyed brands prefer long-term partnerships | 18 Reels at ₹8,000 to ₹40,000: ₹1.44 to ₹7.2 lakh |
Idea 12 ties the anniversary to what comes next. The Goat Agency and Kantar report found that 72 percent of brands prefer long-term creator partnerships, and a milestone is a natural moment to sign them. See brand ambassador programmes.
Who should speak first
The order of voices matters more than the number. Give the first slots to people who have earned them, and add new creators once the story is already told.
| Voice | Why they go first | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| First customers | They can say why they stayed, which no one else can | Get written consent to use their words and faces |
| Creators who already post about you | Their audience knows the brand and their code history is on file | Refresh the contract; an old barter deal does not cover a paid anniversary post |
| Creators who buy the product themselves | The most credible tone | If you gift or pay them now, they must label it |
| New creators | New audiences, a reason to try the brand | Brief them on the story; they have not lived it |
| Your own staff | Warmth and detail from inside | Label with "Employee"; keep it voluntary |
Claims a milestone invites
Anniversary copy is full of claims: how long, how many, how loved. Each one must be provable before a creator repeats it. ASCI's guidelines make the advertiser responsible for ensuring a post conforms, and say influencers should satisfy themselves that you can substantiate your claims.
| Claim | What you need on file |
|---|---|
| "Five years of [brand]" | Incorporation record or first-sale date |
| "10 lakh customers" | Unique-customer data and your definition of a customer |
| "India's most loved" | A dated, named source, or drop the claim |
| "Launch price" | Proof that you charged that price for a real period |
| "Limited edition of 500" | The production record, and a stop when the stock is gone |
| "Free gift with every order" | Stock enough to honour it for the whole offer |
| "Winners picked at random" | A documented method and the rules page |
Six weeks out
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Six weeks before | Choose the milestone number and story; gather customer messages, old photos and first-order records |
| Five weeks before | Approach first customers and existing ambassadors; shortlist new creators |
| Four weeks before | Contracts, codes and the offer terms fixed; claims table signed off |
| Two weeks before | Briefs out; hampers shipped if any; countdown scheduled |
| Anniversary week | Lead Reel, codes live, Stories daily; reply to every thank-you |
| One week after | Offer closes on the stated date; thank-you post; report |
If your date falls in a festive month, decide early whether the anniversary leads or follows the festival. See sale season influencer marketing and influencer marketing for festive sales.
Labels, gifts and tax
Every creator post that earns a fee, a hamper or a discount is advertising. Under the ASCI guidelines it needs a clear label upfront (Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership or Free gift), and the permitted labels include Employee for your own staff. A hamper sent to a creator is a gift and a material connection even if you ask for nothing in return. If creators keep it, a summary of CBDT's circular says section 194R applies: 10 percent TDS on its fair value once the total to that person passes ₹20,000 in a financial year. The Income-tax Act 2025, in force from 1 April 2026, consolidates TDS provisions; confirm with your CA how the rule now reads. This is general information, not legal or tax advice.
After the birthday
Anniversary content has a longer life than the week. Pin the best customer Reels on your profile, put the strongest creator clips on your product page under the rights you agreed, and consider running the top two posts as partnership ads for a fortnight after the offer closes, with the label kept on. Then write down what you learned about which stories moved people. It is the brief for next year's milestone.
What public record shows (not our work)
We found no published anniversary campaign with results in our sources, so we cite none. The campaigns in our fact base are launches, films and sports seasons, and none is described as built on a milestone date. That means you will not find a benchmark for what an anniversary should earn. Set your own bar before you start: a number of attributed orders, a number of new customer stories collected, and a rate of repeat purchase from the creators' audiences.

If you want to give back as part of the anniversary, read cause marketing campaigns first, because a donation tie-in invites its own claim checks. Frequently asked questions
What is a brand anniversary influencer campaign?
It is a campaign that uses a milestone, such as one, five or ten years, as the story for creator content: where the brand began, who bought first, what changed, and a thank-you with an offer. It gives customers a reason to return and gives new buyers a reason to trust. See our creator ambassador programmes for the long-term version.
How early should we plan an anniversary campaign?
Start six weeks before the date. Gather customer stories and old assets in the first two weeks, brief and contract creators in weeks three and four, and run a countdown in the last two. If your anniversary falls in a festive month, check the clash early. Our festival calendar for influencer marketing shows the dates.
How much does an anniversary campaign cost?
A modest version, a mid-tier lead Reel, 12 micro Reels with Story sets and 20 nano customer Reels, costs about ₹7.7 to ₹8.4 lakh in our example including rights and management fees. A birthday-week code push alone with 12 micro creators costs ₹60,000 to ₹2.4 lakh. See the influencer rates guide.
Should we discount for our anniversary?
Only if you can afford it and can track it. Give creators unique codes, cap the offer by date or quantity, and make sure any 'launch price' was a real price you charged. A discount that sits on an inflated list price is a claim problem, not a celebration. Our guide to tracking sales with discount codes shows the setup.
Can we send creators an anniversary hamper?
Yes, but a hamper is a gift and a material connection, so any post about it needs an ASCI label, such as Free gift or Collaboration. If creators keep it and the total value to one person passes ₹20,000 in a year, section 194R TDS applies at 10 percent. See TDS 194R and GST.
Does a young brand have a milestone worth celebrating?
Yes. A first anniversary works, and so do other milestones: your first 10,000 orders, 100 days, or a new city. The format is the same: a real number, a real story and a thank-you. If you have not yet had a first customer story to tell, a pilot will give you one.
